Making $95 In 10 Minutes

Sure the title of this article may sound like a scam ad, but the essence of this is doing simple things to save money. As Benjamin Franklin said, "A penny saved is a penny earned."  As Mustachians we understand that a penny saved is not just a penny earned but a penny that will then continue to keep earning for us.

2014 Color Me Rad 5k in Vancouver, WA

Another year has gone by since my first ever 5k run.  Last year I did horrible, started out way too fast and got drained by the first hill.  Running into a coworker also didn't help all that much, which gave me an excuse to walk and talk most of the way.  This year was different.  After having ran the Shamrock run in Portland I was feeling better.  Between the Shamrock run and Color Me Rad I had a few chances to do some extra training, but didn't get a lot in, I was worried how I was going to do this time.

Camp Mustache

This weekend my wife and I had a great opportunity to go and attend Camp Mustache.  At the same time Mr. Money Mustache wrote a blog article entitled Give Yourself the Gift of Not Worrying About Money.  This article really hit home, a lot of times we worry way too much about money where we should be allowing money to make us happy.  That's not to say to just go out and spend it on empty consumerism, quite the opposite, we can choose to not worry about money because we have it and are constantly flexing our frugality muscles.  It was very timely because we had spent $400 for both of us to go out on this three day excursion to meet one of the most influential writers currently in my life.

May's Goals: Getting Back On Track

It's been a while since I have posted anything, April was just a mix of being worn out, busy, and recovering.  I achieved a major goal of hitting $300 saved by riding my bicycle.  My wife has started helping out quite a bit towards this goal by riding around town on short 1 mile shopping trips.

March's Goal: Failure Is Imminent

It's nearly half way through April and I am finally getting around to writing about March.  As it turns out trying to focus on sleeping sent me on a wild ride.  My previous habits failed me as my sleep took a spin for the worse.  It was as if by publishing the goal to get more sleep I somehow flipped on my insomnia switch.  There were many nights of not getting to sleep until 2 or 3 in the morning.  This predictably played havoc on my ability to exercise, concentrate, and overall morale for running.
